Streamlining and improvement of theoretical exercises in small-class teaching

About the project

Small-class teaching – often referred to as theoretical exercises (TØ), computer labs, or seminars – are part of the teaching of many courses at Science and Technology (formerly). This project will develop concrete proposals for strengthening this type of teaching on the basis of observations of classroom teaching at ST, focusing on the following actions:

  1. Concrete suggestions for Blackboard supported student preparation before theoretical exercises.
  2. Concrete suggestions for supporting students' learning in teaching.
  3. Concrete suggestions for assessment using educational IT (e.g. Blackboard) of student learning during the course (e.g. continuous assessment).

Time frame

The project will run from February 2018 and is expected to be completed in June 2018.

  • Observation of class teaching (February-May).
  • Proposal for planning of theoretical exercises (April-May).
  • Preparation of idea catalogue (May-June).

  • Examples of Blackboard supported theoretical exercises.
  • Suggestions for planning of teaching.
  • Idea catalogue for assessment using educational IT (e.g. Blackboard).
