Oral exam with preparation with aids

This is a traditional type of assessment in which a student first draws a question/topic from a pool of possible questions, then has time to prepare an oral presentation, and finally performs the presentation. The list of questions/topics can either be known or unknown. The presentation is traditionally followed by a dialogue in which detailed knowledge about the presented question/topic is tested. As students have time to prepare, a deeper understanding is often expected compared to an oral assessment without preparation. The questions asked can be tuned in terms of type (reproduce, discuss, reflect) and difficulty.

Oral assessments test communication skills, it is therefore recommended that students practice and receive feedback on their communication skills during the course.
